Rachael D’Souza, DMD

Dr. D’Souza earned a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science, with Distinction, from Duke University where she served as former president of the Duke Pre-Dental Society. Her time spent with the N.C. Missions of Mercy clinics and with local dentist mentors helped solidify her decision to pursue dentistry. She then completed her D.M.D at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine, receiving both the Dean’s leadership award and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology senior sedation award.

Dr. D’Souza first realized the importance of anesthesia in the dental experience for patients while working with a dental anesthetist to arrange for sedation services for a patient. She then completed a three year dental anesthesiology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, gaining anesthesia experience in the operating rooms at UPMC Presbyterian and Montefiore Hospitals, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and Magee-Women’s Hospital. Additionally, a significant portion of Dr. D’Souza’s training was dedicated to anesthesia tailored for dentistry through the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine’s Dental Anesthesia department. This allowed her to provide intubated and non-intubated general anesthesia, deep sedation, and conscious sedation for a variety of dental procedures including oral surgery, dental pediatrics, endodontics, general dentistry, and even dental care for special needs patients at Pitt’s Center for Patients with Special Needs. Dr. D’Souza is excited to be part of the TIC family and looks forward to being involved in the local community.

An avid Blue Devils fan, Dr. D’Souza enthusiastically roots for Duke sports. She also enjoys exercising and fitness, discovering good movies, and traveling.
